Today, through a local Orlando Chevy dealership I was able to secure my spot on the list for a new Sonic.  The dealership was able to provide a list of interior and exterior color options provided to them by GM.  Unfortunately, it appears at this moment in time there will be no blue or grey exterior color option, but hopefully these are just the initial options.
2012 Chevy Sonic LT1 Color Options as of 07/15/2011:

• Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)
• Summit White  (GAZ)
• Black  (GBA)
• Victory Red  (GCN)
• Crystal Red Tinticoat  (GBE)  (additional fee)
• Inferno Orange Metallic  (GCR)  (additional fee)

2012 Chevy Sonic LT1 Interior Options as of 07/15/2011:

• Jet Black / Dark Titanium, Deluxe Cloth  (ABY)
• Jet Black / Brick, Deluxe Cloth  (ACB)
• Dark Pewter / Dark Titanium, Deluxe Cloth  (ACC)

Underneath the aggressive exterior design of the Sonic is the tuned spirit of a Corvette.  In a press release from GM, Corvette engineers are said to have worked specifically on the 2012 Chevy Sonic suspension.  The engineers tuned the suspension and ride characteristics to make it more sporty and agile. 


One can only anticipate the handling will indeed be vastly improved over the other competitors in the same class.  More specifically the early press release stated: "All models (Sonic) feature a MacPherson strut front suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar, and a semi-independent, torsion beam axle-mount compound link-type rear suspension – featuring a robust, tubular V-shape beam – with gas-charged shocks" (GM-2011).

According to a recent publication by THE DETROIT NEWS, the 2012 Chevy Sonic production could be affected by a looming strike.  Christina Rogers reported that "workers... are trying to decide if they should strike over unresolved contract issues" (Rogers-2011).  This appears to be normal business negations and one can assume a resolution will be reached in a timely manner.

During the March 2011 South By Southwest (SXSW) Music Film and Interactive festival there was an interactive 360 degree photo booth set up for the attendees featuring the 2012 Chevy Sonic.  The Matrix movie style photo booth allowed participants to be photographed in front of a 2012 Chevy Sonic doing any number of moves or actions. The end results were very entertaining and was a great promotional item for the 2012 Chevy Sonic.

Recently, the Chevy webpage for the all new SONIC was updated with new MSRP asking prices.  As of June 23, 2011 the 2012 Chevy Sonic Sedan has a listed MSRP starting at $13,735, and the 2012 Chevy Sonic Hatchback has a listed MSRP starting at $14,635.
